On the first week of work at a new job I was asked if I could build a widget. I hadn't even heard of a widget but by the end of the week I had a working prototype. The widget was a Yahoo Konfabulator Widget. It's just a zipped up folder with images and it runs javascript. The widget needed to call to an external page and load data that would change from time-to-time and give updates to users. It would also have a button that would shrink/expand the body of the widget. I was provided a design which was created by Arnold Worldwide Agency. I used a javascript ajax package my friend Jason LaCouture developed and was able to access the xml web page and present the information into the widget. It was an interesting project.
